Starting Out on a Shoe String Budget
Keep in mind if you find a design you like with these companies but can't afford, you can show it to a web designer and see if they can produce something similiar for you. Sometimes just starting out it's not in the budget to spend hundreds on a website. If this is the case with you, Perhaps going this route or starting with a Free blog over at www.Blogger.com just might be the way to go.
Blogger.com is simple, however, you can produce a pretty good looking blog/website if you take the time to get to know how to use it.
Also, if you are familiar with www.WordPress.org (another blogging platform) you can use one of their many templates and/or purchase a cool theme (template) to use for your blog/website. If you are not sure what I'm talking about here, then WordPress may not be for you right now. There is a learning curve with WordPress. You should be familiar with plugins, how to host your own site, buy domain names to get the most out of WordPress. If you don't have a clue about these things, I suggest finding a course that will teach you. However, once you get to know how to use it, the sky is the limit as to what you can do in the area of blog/website creation.
Check out Youtube and Google for information about Wordpress. There are also online courses you can take to learn how to use Wordpress as well.
Personally, I use and like WordPress. I'm self taught. I just took the time to learn it and now I can't live without WordPress. I use WordPress for all my blog/websites. The blog you are reading now, was created in my Pre Wordpress Days on the Typepad blogging Platform. It's pretty good and they have gotten a lot better over the years. However Typepad in my opinion is not as flexible, robust and beautiful as WordPress. As we say in my gym, WordPress is "that deal" when it comes to blogs/websites. You can check out Typepad here: www.Typepad.com
The 3 website companies above, I haven't used, but ones I know offer a lot and have everything you need to really get results.
