.Pass out your business cards and offer a free 30 minute workout & fitness consultation. Do this at your gym or with people you come in contact with daily. No hard sell. Just bring it up while your chatting with them. People love free stuff! You can even make the back of your business card look like a coupon for 1 free session! When possible, get an email or number to call and remind them about their appointment. When I used this technique I was immediately able to turn those free sessions into clients!
.Ask for referrals. Every person you are currently training probably knows someone that would like to workout or get healthy. Ask your current clients for names and numbers of someone they know looking for a personal trainer or looking to get in shape. Offer your clients a free session if someone they refer signs up for your service. I pretty much work off referrals alone, it works!
.Make a list of your friends and family. Make a list of your friends and family members... especially those that have shown an interest in fitness. Let them know you are personal training and have slots open for training. Be careful with this though, family and freinds can sometimes want a "hook up" and will "hook" you right out of business. Be firm about your price. If they are serious they will pay you. When they come in don't forget to ask for referrals!
.Calling on past clients is a good way to get clients quick. Call all your past clients that you haven't seen for a while and check on them, encourage them to come back. Let them know you'd be more than happy to work with them again. I used this technique and within 2 weeks some of them started coming back to the gym , some called to thank me for checking on them...I was able to recapture those lost clients!
.Have a fitness seminar. You can rent a ballroom at a hotel, clubhouse or use space in your gym to talk about getting healthy and exercising. You could invite other professionals to speak on areas they may have knowledge in such as massage therapy , nutrition, weight loss, etc. Keep in mind, they won't be there to compete with you, just to speak. Offer to pay them about what an average training session would be for an hour. Your seminar should give valuable information that get people excited about working out. I know of a trainer that charged $55 dollars per seminar ticket and he included healthy snacks with that fee. Not only did he make money, but he signed up a few people as well!
.Find a niche and advertise to that niche! Get brides ready for their wedding day with your bridal boot camp! Place fliers in bridal shops ( with permission of course), Train stay at home moms with stroller training! Create fliers, post them on ad boards and hand out to your current clients , friends, family, consults, and people you meet! Everybody knows somebody so don't miss out on this huge client getter! Market your business and they will come!
7. Are you on Facebook or Twitter let your "friends" know you are giving away Free Fitness Assessment and a weight loss consultation. Have them come to your gym for the consultation and turn some of those folks into clients! Also you can let them know about other things you are doing. Be creative with this one!
