Are you a Nail Technician , just starting out and need clients to give your wonderful pedicures, manicures and acrylic nails to?? Well , sometimes you need to give a little to get a lot! If your just starting out , it will be a good idea to get your business cards and flyers out and offer free or discounted manicures or pedicures ( or whatever you want to offer) to friends and family members for your "Grand Opening".
(Be sure to let family & friends know this "free or discounted" service is just a one time special you are running for your "Grand Opening". That way they won't come to expect free service all the time.)
Of course you won't be making a lot of money during this time. However, you will be gaining a few clients that like your service and will return to you. Eventually you will be making money from your efforts on a consistent basis.
This is the time to put your best foot forward and apply all the marketing techniques we've discussed so far in this blog. When folks come in, you will get their name, number and email address, to keep in touch with them and remind them about their next nail appointment and/ or specials you have. You will also book the next appointment.
Be upfront with your client and let them know you are trying to expand your clientele and looking to for great clients like them! Let them know if they like the service, to refer their friends & family. Here's the key to making this work: give your client a referral card that they can give out to their friends that offers a % off services, free gift or 2 for one offer. Put an expiration date on the card to get people to come in quicker.
The other key to success with getting referrals is to make your referral card enticing so folks will want to use it! Also, rewarding your client for sending referrals will entice them to send you more people. Always reward clients who send you new business with a gift, discount, or free service. Figure out what rewards are best for you, so you are not losing money. Be creative while making the gift "valuable".
Use this time to take photo's of your work. Start a portfolio that you can show people when they come in. When folks see how talented you are, they will feel good about referring others and coming in to see you again.
Later, you can use these images on your website and other online sources as you develop yourself as a business person! Pictures are worth a thousand words. So make sure you take pictures of your work!
Remember to give the best customer service and over deliver. Give customers and clients more than what they expected. Things like a cold drink or a 5 minute hand and forearm massage will make people remember you!
Your goal is to make them want to come back and "brag" about you to others, because you are doing what other nail techs are not doing! They should leave you going "WOW" I'm going to tell my friend about her!"
You'll also want to thank each person you service. The power of Thank You is incredible for getting clients to come back and referring others. Send a hand written Thank you card or call them.
Using these technique will start to funnel clients into your nail care business and start generating cash for you when you have no clients or very few! It only takes 1 or 2 clients to get the ball rolling and get clients to come in.
Don't be afraid to offer something for free in fear of not making money. In the beginning stages this is what we have to do! It will take some investing in your business to get the word out about you and your great services. It will pay off and reward you with clients that will happily pay you for your great service in the future!
It will seem to be a little slow going at first, but it will pick up as long as you are actively working to get clients. However, this is a fast way of getting more clients versus doing nothing at all!

Aside from running an ad, you might want to try posting a comment regarding your shop on a few nail technician forums.
