The strategey goes like this: After giving your nail client a receipt, stamp the back of it 20% off services with this receipt if used within 14 days. Also let them know they can give it to a friend or family member too! (Be sure to include "not valid with any other promotions").
You will also want to post this promotion in your salon for your clients to see.
This is a simple way to get folks to come back to see you faster and even pass the receipt to a friend. When you put value to a receipt in this manner, people will not want to lose it. They will give it away to someone that could use a savings before risk losing it. You are essentially turning your receipts into cash that will get folks back in to see you and/or referring someone new to you.
You can play around with this idea. It doesn't have to be exactly what I'm suggesting here. Like all marketing strategies I suggest on this blog and in boot camp you can fine tune it the way you like. There is no right or wrong way here. Let this get your creative juices flowing.
This marketing strategy was actually used by a well known Coffee Shop. They gave $2.00 off purchase when customers brought their receipt back after 2:00 p.m that day. They saw a 27% increase in business from customers coming back.
A soup shop is also using this marketing strategy. They give 20% off food when you bring your receipt in within 3 days, 15% off when you bring your receipt in within 5 days and 10% off when you bring your reciept in within 7 days. You better believe this works great for them. Everyone loves "coupons" and savings.
How to Make the Most Money with this Strategy
They key to making money with this is to upsell everyone that comes in with their receipt. This means you will offer other complimentary services to increase the amount of money you make. Also, you'll be getting their contact information so you can market to them later with other promotions thus making even more money.
Not everyone will want a complimentary service, but for those that do buy other services from you this will increase your bottom line much more than had you not asked. Do not assume they will ask on their own for other products and services you may offer. You must and I repeat you must make the offer to them.
