One of the best things you can do for your business is to build a database (email list) of all your clients and potential clients. As you begin to build this database, you'll find this list will become very valuable and profitable for you if you know how to use it correctly.
In turning your database into a very profitable list, your key goal will be to develop a relationship with the people in this list so they will come to trust you and look to you as an authority in your field of work. When people trust you and value your opinion, they listen to your advice and purchase products you recommend without worrying about being cheated or getting a bad product. They feel like they are buying from a friend rather than a stranger.
Using Email Marketing to Build a List of Loyal Clients that Buy From You Often
Since your goal will be to develop a relationship of trust with your list, you will need an effective way of keeping in touch with them and an effective relationship building strategy that will turn loyal followers into buyers. So, how do you do this?
One way is through email marketing. Email marketing makes keeping in touch with your clients and potential clients easy.
To build an effective relationship through email marketing, you should spend 80% of the time sending tips, advice, articles, and things that promote customer loyalty to your list. You always want to appear you are giving value. The other 20% will be used for promotional type emails. This way when you send out an email "asking them to buy something", they can see that you are not after them for their money, but truly trying to help them.

A lot of beauty techs are losing tons money because they fail to follow up or follow up consistently with clients and potential clients. It usually takes several contacts with a person before they tune in to what you are saying or before they buy anything from you. This is what makes email marketing so valuable. It follows up with clients and potential clients often enough to make the sale and get them to tune in to you. It's not unheard of to generate $100's- 1000's of dollars monthly from a large mailing list!
Why Use Email Marketing:
1. Keeps your services fresh in the minds of clients that have busy lifestyles. So when they forget about you, your email reminds them about getting their nails done.
2. Send out weekly/monthly specials on manicure, pedicures, nail art, acrylic nails, hot new nail polish colors for the season, hot new products your using.... etc. Keeps clients coming back and spending money.
3. Send out incentives to refer others to you. Generate more clients.
4. Send out tips on keeping up nails and feet between visits..etc. Show your clients you care inside and outside of the nail/hair salon - creates client loyalty which equals long term clients.
5. Get clients you have not seen in a while to come back by offering discount offers.
6. Send out a coupon for a buddy to get a "service" when they come in with client. Generate more clients.
7. Market new products you may have. Such as spa treatments, Scented oils, skin care..etc. Generate additional income from none nail or hair services!

Email Marketing can become a tedious task if done manually. Putting in emails and sending out emails can get time consuming. You also risk not following up in timely manner. To keep your list fresh and responding to you, you should follow up often, so you do not "lose" them. I suggest getting email marketing software where you can automate the entire email process. This way you will not have to worry about not following up with your list in a timely manner, you set it up and kinda forget about it.
A great service to use is GetResponse or Aweber , these are the best email services out there today. These services are also called auto-responders. With these auto-responders you can load all your pre-written emails and let the responder follow up for you like clock work. You usually use these services in conjunction with your website or blog. Another option will be to have salon software like Schedulicity, that manages your database for you.
You can opt to send emails once a week , twice a week, once a month, twice a month. Whatever is fitting for what you have going on. Sending emails everyday is not necessary, you'll need to space emails apart. Like every every 5 days, every 10 days etc....you decide on the frequency.
Email marketing has the potential to make you 1000's of dollars per month as your list grows to be very large. As you will see from other posts on this site, there are many ways to grow your list both online and offline to huge numbers!

This is an ebook you can purchase. I have taken a look at it and I give it about a B. What I did like about it is it gave a lot of example emails you can use as a template for your own campaigns. It talked about auto responders and the sequence you should send your emails out to your database. However, I think a complete newbie might not realize you can not use this ebook if you do not have a list to market too. So I'm telling you..you need a list to utilize the strategies in this ebook and in this article.
If you do not have a database of clients. Your doing your business more harm than good. Start that database A.S.A.P!
